Tracks 1-7 were recorded in La Havana at Egrem Recording Studios in 1978, and released that year in Cuba on the Areito LP Grupo Irakere (Areito LD-3660, which furthermore included the track Juana 1600, not compiled on this CD). Tracks 8-13 were recorded in New York City at CBS Recording Studio in 1980 and released on US Columbia LP Irakere 2 (JC 36107, which furthermore included the tracks Gira Gira and Xiomara, both not compiled on this CD).
